IEEE Victoria Section Holds 2025 Annual General Meeting
The IEEE Victoria Section successfully held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, May 9, in ECS 668 at the University of Victoria. The event brought together local IEEE members, researchers, and students for an engaging evening of reflection, recognition, and planning for the year ahead.
This year’s AGM was hosted by the newly elected Chair, Dr. Hong-Chuan Yang, who welcomed attendees and guided the evening’s agenda.
The event began with registration and refreshments, followed by the formal meeting, which opened with a territorial acknowledgment and the introduction of the Executive Committee.
Section officers, chapter chairs, and affinity group leaders presented their annual reports, highlighting the past year’s accomplishments and ongoing initiatives. A special guest presentation by Murray MacDonald from IEEE Canada provided insightful updates on national IEEE programs and opportunities for broader engagement.
Two key initiatives were introduced:
-
The formation of a Life Member Affinity Group to connect and support senior IEEE members.
-
The reactivation of the Young Professionals Affinity Group, aimed at engaging early-career engineers and recent graduates.
Nominations for open Executive Committee positions were also announced, with members encouraged to participate and help shape the future of the Section.
