Dr.  Hajar Abedi: “AI-Powered Radar Systems for Enhancing Care in Long-Term Facilities”

September 11 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Abstract: As populations age, the demand for safe, effective, and scalable solutions in long-term care continues to grow. Conventional monitoring approaches—such as cameras or wearable devices—raise concerns related to privacy, compliance, and user acceptance. Radar, combined with artificial intelligence, offers a promising alternative for unobtrusive and privacy-preserving monitoring of residents in care facilities. This talk will present recent advances in the design and deployment of AI-powered radar systems for long-term care applications. By enabling continuous, unobtrusive monitoring, these systems have the potential to support caregivers, reduce hospital transfers, and enhance overall quality of care. The talk will conclude with open challenges and future directions for scaling radar-based AI technologies across healthcare and aging-in-place <a href="http://settings.
