Hardware Hack Days

Room: MY150, Bldg: Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation, University of Toronto, 55 St George Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

IEEE Toronto, in partnership with the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo, is very happy to announce the following STEM outreach event. It is targeted towards high school students and teachers. Please help us to spread the <a href="http://word.Day">word.[]Day 1: Chip Hack DayInterested in knowing how to go from idea to chip? In this beginning workshop, led by extraordinary leader in semiconductors, Matt Venn (Tiny Tapeout), you will learn how to design your own chip. If designing a chip seemed elusive, this is THE workshop that will show a clear path for getting it done. This is expected to be one of the largest gatherings of new chip designers, so register soon! In this workshop you will create a design and send it to be manufactured on an open-source ASIC! You will learn:  The basics of how semiconductors are designed and made,  The basics of digital logic,  How to build and simulate a simple digital design,  How to create the GDS files for manufacture at the Skywater foundry.  All participants will be able to get their design manufactured free of charge thanks to SPONSORS <a href="http://sponsorship.Day" target="_blank" title="sponsorship.Day">sponsorship.Day 2: Build a Printed Circuit BoardIn this workshop, led by the semiconductor legend John Cohn, you will design a PCB using cloud-based tool, EasyEDA, In day 2 of this workshop, led by John Cohn, you will build a LED chaser which blinks 10 LEDs in a variable speed sequence, and you get to choose how it will <a href="http://look.Room:" target="_blank" title="look.Room:">look.Room: MY150, Bldg: Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation, University of Toronto, 55 St George Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
